I also have no proof that he was the father of John William (1816), as no mother was given on the baptism record.
The assumption for this is circumstancial based on dates and times and a lack of other matching John's.

John was a mariner, I did not find him in the 1841 or 1851 census, he was presumably at sea, as he was not with his wife Susan.
He served on various ships from May 1837 until Nov 1851 when he obtained his masters certificate.

After then I do not know on which ships he sailed.
There may have been another daughter Eleanor Q2 1848 but I cannot find her in the 1851 census nor any reference to her death.
